What is Learning Explorer?

Learning Explorer is a Learning Object Repository (LOR), now available to you through your district! 

What is a LOR? 

A Learning Object Repository is an online library for finding, storing, organizing, managing, and sharing educational learning resources, aka learning objects. 

Why Learning Explorer?

Educator Curated and Easy to use. Learning Explorer houses over 600k educator-curated resources, including OER from several providers, plus an additional 2 million educational videos from our partner Boclips.

What are the benefits of Learning Explorer?

Time saving search & filtering tools. Easy to use. Access to print and digital resources. Drag-and-drop tools to build lesson collections and share with students. Supports in-class and virtual instruction. Curriculum is managed district-wide for staff, while teachers can manage their personal curriculum. Everything is in one place.

How do I use Learning Explorer?

Teachers use Learning Explorer to search for resources across several providers (all-in-one search). Educational filters allow teachers to narrow in on grades, subjects, resource type, standards alignment, Lexile® level, and so much more. Teachers can also create personalized learning collections that can be shared out to students via Google Classroom or passkey-protected link. The platform also allows users to organize personal collections into structured folders.

The navigation bar is with you wherever you go on the site.

  • On the left is the logo and search tool. You can use the search bar to search for resources no matter where you are on the platform.

*Note: Due to customization capabilities, you may see a different logo in your account.

 
  • The right side is broken down into three main menus: Discover, Help, and Your name. Let’s look at these three menus in more detail.

Discover Resources

  • Click on Discover Resources to launch the search page to search and filter all the learning resources in your learning object repository.

 

  • You can conduct one search across all the providers in your Learning Explorer account, including our Lesson Planet library of hundreds of thousands of educator-reviewed resources. Learn more about the search and filter tools in our Find Resources section.
  • Click on Discover Resources to launch the search page to search and filter all the learning resources available to you with your membership.

Curriculum Manager (My Resources)

  • Click on My Curriculum Manager to access your saved resources, uploaded files, collections, and folders.

 

  • You can manage, create, upload, edit, and view all of your resources individually, or organize these resources into structured folders. Learn more about the Curriculum Manager in our Manage Curriculum section.

Browse Resource Directory

  • Click on Browse Resource Directory to browse instructional resources by subject and topic. Learn more about browsing in our Find Resources section.

Curriculum Calendar

  • Click on Curriculum Calendar to explore curriculum resources by date.

 

  • You can find timely teaching topics around holidays, historic events, or significant figures. Click on any event to find a breadth of related teaching resources that will spark new ideas to spice up your daily lessons. Learn more about the Curriculum Calendar in our Find Resources section.

Lesson Planning Articles

  • Click on Lesson Planning Articles to explore timely and inspiring teaching ideas to use in the classroom.

PD Learning Network

  • Click on PD Learning Network to access your PD Courses. This menu item applies only to members that have purchased PD Learning Network Courses for credit through the University of Pacific. To learn more, check out our PD Learning Network Page.

Where do I Start?

  1. Refer to the Help Center when you are having trouble or need a refresher on a topic.
  2. Watch our help video tutorials at anytime.
  3. Attend a training session
  4. Familiarize yourself with navigating each section described above.
  5. Get comfortable with searching and filtering. Try conducting several searches and play with the filters.
  6. Build a collection, and then edit it.
  7. Save a resources and then access it in your curriculum manager.
  8. Set up your Google Classroom with your Learning Explorer account.

What is a Review?

Discovering resources is just the tip of the iceberg. Here at Learning Explorer, we’ve spent years combing the internet for high-quality learning resources for all grade levels and subject areas. Our robust reviews help you (the educator) quickly find resources to help you plan, teach, and inspire.

  2. Get comfortable with searching and filtering. Try conducting several searches and play with the filters.

Logging In

There are several ways to login to your account. Jump to the section that makes most sense to you.

E-mail Sign-in

  1. Go to www.learningexplorer.com/sign-in
  2. Enter the e-mail associated with your account.
  3. Enter your case-sensitive password.

Forgot your Password? Click on I forgot my Password to reset your password or click here to reset your password now.

Clever Single Sign On (SSO)

Clever Portal:

1. Log in to your Clever Portal 

2. Enter in your district username and password

*Tip: Refer to the “Hint” for a reminder of your username and password

3. Select the Learning Explorer Application Icon to launch your account

Clever PD Guide {Template}

Clever District Picker:

1. Go to www.learningexplorer.com and click Sign In 

2. From the sign in page, click Log in with Clever

Having Trouble? Login methods are configured by your school or district. If you are having issues logging in through Clever, we recommend reaching out to your district support contact for further investigation.

Edit your account settings at anytime. Hover over your name in the Navigation Bar. Select My Account.

Here, you can customize your name, upload a picture, choose your grade levels and subject areas, or change your password. 

*Note: If you you access your Learning Explorer account via Clever, you will not have permission to change your first and last name, e-mail, and/or password.
