SANTA BARBARA, Calif., February 2, 2024―The ScootPad Adaptive Learning platform by Learning Explorer has renewed its Digital Promise certification for Research-Based Design for Instructional Learning.
ScootPad supports intervention and acceleration strategies in ELA and math for grades K-8. The platform helps educators identify students’ needs, continually and automatically assess students’ mastery of concepts, deliver targeted interventions, and monitor learning progress.
ScootPad was acquired by the Learning Explorer company from the ACT® non-profit testing organization in February 2023 and received one of the initial product certifications for research-based design awarded by Digital Promise in 2021.
The Digital Promise certification serves as a rigorous, reliable signal for district and school leaders, educators, and families evaluating edtech products with a confirmed basis in research about learning. Learning Explorer submitted evidence to Digital Promise confirming a link between research on how students learn and ScootPad’s product design.

Through product certifications, consumers can narrow their options as they select products based on research about learning before trying it out in their classrooms. Digital Promise launched the Research-Based Design product certification in February 2020 and has certified over 100 products to date.
The Research-Based Design product certification uses a competency-based learning framework, developed in consultation with Digital Promise’s Learner Variability Project advisory board, expert researchers in the Learning Sciences field, and nearly 50 educators across the United States.
